Mireya Perez Bustillo

Mireya Pérez-Bustillo, a native of Colombia; grew up on L.I and Queens, N.Y. Writing for her is "un canto y un tejido" where her fiction and poetry in Spanish and English search to break through silence and oppression.

 

Among her publications are "Latina Self-Narratives" in La mujer hispana en el mundo; "Bluey," NYU Network Journal, La picara y la dama (ediciones Universal); The female Body(Greenwood Press); and short fiction in Revista del Hada, MER VOX, among others.

 

She holds a Ph.D in Spanish Literature, is an Associate Professor Emerita from The College of New Rochelle, and a Coordinator of  Latino Study Groups at the IRP Program at the New School University.

She has read her work at Radio WADO "Perspectives " with Louis Reyes Rivera; WKCR "Art Waves" with Anne Cammon; Malin Falu's program, and appeared on "Poet-to Poet, Manhattan Cable and Brooklyn Across TV.

 

She has been awarded writing residencies at Byrdcliffe, Vermont Studio Center, NYU Faculty Resource Network and Dingle Writers in Ireland.

Forthcoming publications include Nomad's Choir, Brownstone Poets Anthology, and New School IRP Voices, Dinner with the Muse.
